About the race<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The drum beats July 18th & 19th, 2025 as we celebrate our 22nd Anniversary Year on the river!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over twenty-five teams will join together from our community and beyond. Some will come from corporations, area industries, small businesses, financial institutions, service clubs, and community organizations. Others will be made up of groups of individuals, both local and visiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Races will be held on the New Glasgow Riverfront. Each team will paddle their Dragon Boat in heats while more than 1000 participants and spectators view from the vantage point of the two shores and the George Street Bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Children\u2019s activities, on site food trucks and concessions, and other family-oriented activities will be going on throughout the day at the race site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Women Alike Breast Cancer Survivors Society<\/strong> helps women living with breast cancer understand that they can lead full, active lives despite the physical limitations imposed by this disease. They are working to improve the quality of life for breast cancer “thrivers”, raise public awareness about the disease, and promote and support local Canadian Cancer Societies. The race for a cure continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special Olympics Northern Region<\/strong> uses sport to assist people with a mental disability to become all that they can be-physically, mentally, socially, emotionally-and to become accepted, respected and productive members of society. Their mission is to ensure that a full continuum of sport opportunities is available to people with a mental disability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pictou County Prostate Cancer Support Association<\/strong> began in 2001 with four members and has since grown to more than 100 members. They are associated with other Provincial and Federal prostate support organizations. The objectives of their Society are: to improve the physical and psychological well being of men who have or who have had prostate cancer; to provide support to men whose prostate cancer has recurred; to support prostate cancer research and to promote prostate cancer awareness through the Pictou County area.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
